Emily Irene VanCamp initially aspired to become a professional actor however, she became intrigued after visiting Katie on the Ladies Room film set. While learning to act, VanCamp landed the role of a guest on a television show in Canada. Some of the shows that she had appeared in, besides other ones included Are You Afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp's career exploded after being cast for the part of Sam Dolan, a regular on WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. Though the show garnered positive critiques, it's poor ratings led to it being cancelled after just nine episodes. Despite her May 12th 1986 birthday she was offered the role of Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott. Her part in the movie brought her the film four Teen Choice Awards nominations and an Young Artist Award.
